When a Song Repeats ....

An evening breeze,
Lazy with attitude
Rolled quietly
Over tree tops,
While music runs thick
Like spiced gumbo,
Making the air
Smell of jazz.

Teams of fireflies
Dodged running children,
While the fat tail
Of a dozing cat
Stirred restlessly
Like tossing minds
On moist nights
When songs repeat.
