Let's Go Crazy Paint Second Life Purple Kicks Off Today May 7 2011

The 2011 Relay for Life of Second Life presents:

Paint Second Life Purple!
May 7-13th
Purple here, purple there, purple everywhere! But why?
The purpose of Paint SL Purple is to draw the grid together and promote awareness of our Relay for Life event, benefitting the American Cancer Society.
We ask that during the week of May 7th-13th you turn your world purple. Wear purple clothes, purple hair, even purple skin. Turn your house purple, paint your grass purple! Do you own a store? Paint your STORE purple. Please also place out the 2011 Mission Banners provided in your Paint SL Purple Toolkit. The goal is for people to take notice!
Are you fundraising with a team? Consider holding Purple Events during this week. Hand out purple prizes and take purple pictures! Put purple items in Relay for Life vendors, let's raise some PURPLE dough!
Approximately May 1, your Paint SL Purple toolkit will be available. You will be able to pick it up at ACS Island or through various RFL of SL group notices.
If you have any questions regarding Paint SL Purple, please contact Bailey Dazy
(2011 Special Events Chair, Paint SL Purple lead).

=========== HISTORY OF PAINT SECOND LIFE PURPLE =================
In 2008, a real life relay began holding an event called Paint The Town Purple in support of their Relay. During the American Cancer Society National Leadership Summit in 2008, Stingray9797 Raymaker (the American Cancer Society Representative in SL) and Trader1 Whiplash (then the Mission Chair For Relay in SL) heard about the Paint The Town Purple real life event and discussed how this concept could work in SL and very enthusiastically brought the idea back with them and introduced it to the Relay Committee, and the rest is history.... Paint Second Life Purple was developed and introduced in 2009 to the Second Life Community as one day event.
But given all the creativity and wonderful things that can be done in Second Life, we came to realize that one day was just not enough and it was over all too quick. In 2010, we extended this great event to a week, to spread our Purple Message of Hope.
We keep the tradition going in 2011 with another week filled with Purple pride. Let's keep showing SL what we're Relaying for!
